Academic Facebook?

I've just heard of http://www.academia.edu/, and I was wondering if any of you are on this site or know enough about it to provide an opinion. I just glanced through it, so I don't really have an opinion yet, but I was wondering what you guys think of it. Also, is this a *really* new thing? Or am I just painfully uninformed about online trends?

It's very new. The designer sent out an email to a listserv I'm on for medieval studies, and asked if we would check it out and join. So, I'm on there. I think I'm still the only English grad. student at Purdue. It would be cool if our whole LJ community were on there.

Oh, right, you asked more.

I don't think it's too useful yet, but it seems like it might become something neat eventually.

Not to stalk you or anything, but when I saw you are at Kutztown, I looked at your userinfo--you went to Exeter high school? I am a Wilson graduate, myself.
