Zizek: a saucy interviewee

I thought I'd go ahead and share this very short interview that the Guardian conducted with Zizek. It's extraordinarily amusing, but a very quick read, which is a perfect combination at this time in the semester, if you ask me.

Here's an excerpt:
"What makes you depressed?
Seeing stupid people happy."

Wow, he sounds like a peach.

Seriously, is he trying to parodize the self-hating, miserable and ultimately vacuous intellectual? He did a good job.

You would think so.
He is a little over the top with some of those answers.

Thanks for posting! I needed a good laugh today.

My favorites:

How often do you have sex?

It depends what one means by sex. If it's the usual masturbation with a living partner, I try not to have it at all.

What do you most dislike about your appearance?

That it makes me appear the way I really am.

What is the worst job you've done?

Teaching. I hate students, they are (as all people) mostly stupid and boring.

And this, which explains a lot:

What is your earliest memory?

My mother naked. Disgusting.

Didn't he try to run for president?

I'm so happy someone else likes The Sound of Music as a guilty pleasure.
